NoDa Brewing Company Tapas Opening in Chapel Hill
August 25, 2022
NoDa Brewing Company in Charlotte, N.C., is teaming up with Julie Paddison and Lew Hendricks (of Bottle Rev Chapel Hill, Old East Tavern, The Poplar Cafe, and RTP Uncorked) to create NoDa Brewing Company Tapas in the former Old East Tavern space in Chapel Hill, N.C. This will be NoDa Brewing Company’s fourth location, and the first outside the Charlotte area. The Grand Opening will be September 16, 2022.
The relationship started in 2017 when Bottle Rev Chapel Hill opened and offered NoDa Brewing Company beer. The relationship continued when Old East Tavern opened in 2021, in the midst of the pandemic. Expanding the relationship further, they have teamed up to create NoDa Brewing Company Tapas.
“We are beyond excited to expand our taproom presence outside of Charlotte for the first time,” said Jacob Virgil, Head of Strategy, NoDa Brewing Company. “We are lucky to have great partners in Lew and Julie, and know that they will do an exceptional job at bringing the NoDa Brewing culture and beer to the Chapel Hill area.”
“We are honored that our favorite brewery is trusting us to open a NoDa Brewing taproom in Chapel Hill,” said Lew Hendricks, co-owner Old East Tavern. “The NoDa Brewing brand and culture pairs perfectly with our values and community involvement. We also can’t wait to begin pairing their delicious beer with our tapas menu.”
NoDa Brewing Company Tapas will offer small plates and a full-service bar. They have brought on-board a talented Chef who specializes in tapas and pairings using locally sourced meats, seafood and produce. A few of the tapas are: Clams with sauteed aromatics, wine, cream, romesco, smashed croissant; Cuban Frita with spicy beef, cilantro, shoestring root vegetables, mostarda, pickle; Cornish Game Hen with sweet tea brine, slaw, sweet potato, Smoked Prawns with citrus, pickles; Bean Tartine with Chipotle ricotta, smoked soft-boiled egg.
Flights of NoDa Brewing Company beer, as well as flights of wine, will be offered to pair with the tapas. NoDa Brewing Company cans, as well as wine bottles, will be available for take-out sales.

Opening its taproom doors in 2011, NoDa Brewing Company became one of Charlotte’s first craft breweries. Three short years later, Hop Drop ‘N Roll — their most popular IPA — took home the World Beer Cup Gold Award in the competition’s largest category. This recognition propelled the brewery onto a national stage and attributed to the quick expansion from a 15-barrel brewhouse in the NoDa neighborhood to a 60 barrel brewhouse in nearby North End. Today, NoDa Brewing Company continues to brew award-winning beers, stands as a pillar of creativity and connection in the community, and adds to the state’s thriving craft beer economy.
