About

Grab your dirndl or lederhosen and head to NoDa Brewing's North End Taproom on Friday, September 1, for an Oktoberfest celebration and double beer release!

Bier Excellence: Wet your whiskers with Oktoberfest Märzen Lager, and, say 'Hallo!' to the debut of Fest Fuel Festbier, the brewery’s nod to the brews that flow in the heart of modern German Oktoberfests.

  • Oktoberfest Märzen Lager is a 6.3% ABV, full-bodied Märzen Lager that is fermented on German Bock yeast and brewed with German malts (Vienna, Munich, and Pilsner) and, of course, German hops. It boasts a light amber color, malt-forward taste, and crisp finish.
  • Fest Fuel, a traditional German Festbier (aka Oktoberfest, Weisn, or Theresaweisn,) is our take on the beer style that is most commonly served at today's German Oktoberfest. Brewed dominantly with German Pilsner malt with the accent of German Vienna malt and a touch of Munich (the inverse of our Oktoberfest Märzen Lager recipe.) It's balanced with Hallertau Mittlefruh and Tettnanger hops. This 6% ABV beer is full-bodied, malty, and still approachable for all your festivity needs! (Find more details below)

Fest Games: Think you have what it takes to be the Steinmeister? Prove your mettle in our very own stein holding contest, where the champion will walk away with a NoDa prize pack valued at $300. And for those looking to take home a piece of the fest, we'll have custom limited-edition Oktoberfest ceramic steins available for purchase. Register to compete here: https://bit.ly/stein-holding-contest

Bavarian Bites: A fest is incomplete without traditional German fare. Your taste buds are in for a treat with authentic, drool-worthy bratwurst, sauerkraut, and more from Carlos Dogs.

Pet Costume Showdown: Dress your furry friend in their best Oktoberfest-themed getup and enter them in a pet costume contest. The winner will snag a special treat and endless bragging rights for their owner. The competition begins at 7 p.m. Rumor has it that head brewer, Chad Henderson will be entering his fashionista pup.

Prost!

Fest Fuel, a traditional German Festbier (aka Oktoberfest, Weisn, or Theresaweisn,) is our take on the beer style that is most commonly served at today's German Oktoberfest.

While many American-made Oktoberfest beers, including our Oktoberfest, are based on the Märzen style (amber in color and more robust in maltiness) which was seen at the original Oktoberfest celebrations. These modern German Oktoberfests or Festbiers are actually much lighter in color. While these modern beers still boast a solid malt backbone with subtle hop balance, the malt is far lighter in flavor and character than the Marzen variations.

This year when we release our Oktoberfest Märzen Lager, we'll release it alongside this Fest Fuel, for those wishing to enjoy the Oktoberfest season with a slightly lighter option. Fest Fuel is also gluten-reduced in case those with gluten sensitivity want to experience the style, as well.

Get the 6% ABV Fest Fuel on draft at our North End taproom beginning Friday, September 1st. Try a pint of Oktoberfest while you're at it!
